Update
I submitted Goalbook 1.6 a couple of days ago. A few weeks late on my schedule, but its finally here. It always amazes me how much work I need to do in the final stages of development. I always find my self thinking its ready for a final build but then I always discover stuff that needs to be done before I can send the new update to Apple.
Here’s a quick overview of what’s included in the new update.
NEW
- Whole new edit view
- Sub goals
- Notes
- Adding new goals happens in edit view
- Goal list shows category for each goal
Added a new straight strikethrough for goals with 3 lines.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a bug that caused the keyboard to disappear while adding/editing categories in iOS 4.2
- A lot of other small fixes and tweaks.
Here's a screenshot of the old(left) and new(right) edit view.

Update,
iPhone 4
I just submitted Goalbook 1.5.1 to Apple, it includes full support for the iphone 4 retina display.
It also fixes some annoying bugs, people were experiencing.
It was a lot of work because my app doesn't use any default UI elements, so i had to convert 150 images to higher resolution artwork and furthermore i didn't always know how to reproduce certain effects I made over a year ago. But everything worked out fine.
It really looks gorgeous, so I hope everyone likes it!

In
the last post I mentioned sales declined dramatically, after appearing
as a featured app for some time in the App Store. I submitted Goalbook
1.5 a couple of days ago and I hope to boost sales a little bit and
cover some of the essential things people had been requesting.
One of the things that had a negative impact on the sales and
reviews was the lack of functionality. When I started developing
Goalbook, I set out two goals for myself:
1. Create a gorgeous looking app.
2. Simple functionality, no hassle.
The big difference with a normal todo list is mostly due to design and
functionalities like: sharing, viewing other peoples goals, images,
tweets and a map with goal locations.
But after launch it quickly came clear the functionalities didn’t live up to people’s expectations.
These high expectations are mostly due the looks and feel of the app and my wrongly formulated app store description
which stated goalbook offered tracking functionality, but this tracking
was only limited to a completed and not completed goal state. I should have made clear Goalbook offers simple functionality for keeping goals.
I got a lot of positive reactions. Some ...

Goalbook has been featured with a banner in:
USA, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Greece, Spain
Maybe more but I didn’t check every country.
After the banner disappeared, it went to the What’s hot section, in most of the above countries, but not the USA. I don’t know why, but i know almost 2/3 of my users come from the USA.
Being featured boosted sales immediately, but I am now at the end of that ride, with only a couple of sales per day. I have a lot tricks up my sleeve, so will see what happens in the upcoming months.
Next post will be about Goalbook 1.5

About one weeks ago, I surprisingly got an email from somebody at Apple, saying they possibly wanted to promote Goalbook on the App Store and they wanted additional artwork.
At that time I was working on a new update (1.4) and I immediately went to work on some artwork for the App Store. Thanks to the nice people over at Apple, Goalbook is now being featured with a banner on the App Store and I’m really happy about it!
Thanks for everyone downloading the app! And sending feedback. I will do my best to make Goalbook even better.
Things to expect in one of the upcoming updates.
- Password protection
- Set a deadline
- More filters
- Goal rearranging
- Grouping/tagging
- Rate your goals for importance
- And many more

Goalbook has been accepted, but is not available yet. There are too many things happening right now, because of the iPad launch. Everybody is occupied with iPad related news so I am not going to launch this week.
You just need to wait a little bit longer, I will release Goalbook on 17 April!
Now I have to finish my demo/promo video and do some marketing. I already gathered a lot of blogs and iphone related website all over the world. I have about 150 different websites in different countries.

Thank you for submitting Goalbook to the App Store. We've reviewed Goalbook and determined that we cannot post your application because it appears to include features that resemble Polariod photographs. Polaroid has previously objected to other applications that include features that resemble Polaroid photographs, and believes that such features infringe its rights.
I removed the bottom frame and resubmitted the app. Here you can see the old and new situation:
